WHAT DOES A DEACON DO?
Acts 6 tells us that the elders needed the deacons so that they could remain focused on their role: to oversee the ministry of the Word and the shepherding of the congregation. As elders of Eastpoint Church, we need deacons. The work of the ministry is too vital and too large for us to do it alone.
At Eastpoint, deacons have two general responsibilities:
Supporting and Supplementing the Ministry of the Elders.
The deacons assist the elders in caring for the sheep practically.Protecting and Promoting the Unity of the Church.
The role of the deacon is designed to safeguard the harmony of the church.
