Ignition Group Playbook
We’re in the middle of something. You may have heard whispers of this in passing. Over the last few years, we’ve been launching a grassroots movement of relational disciple-making at Eastpoint Church. And we think you can help.
Vision & Overview
Our church is growing numerically. Average attendance is increasing year over year. Dozens of first-time guests come each month.
If the goal is to draw a crowd, then we should be excited, cheering even. However, if the goal is to make disciples, students, and followers of Jesus’ teachings, then we should feel a weighty optimism.
We recognize God is up to something exciting – spreading His fame and glory on the Shore. And yet we feel the gravitas of the responsibility we have before us - to train all these people as disciples; to lead a community of maturing believers.
Our goal is not a growing room – it’s a growing people.
The Plan
We will equip and develop you to facilitate effective discipleship groups of your own that raise up people who can, in turn, multiply into other discipleship groups.
It’s a three-part development plan.
-
The first, and perhaps most important thing to do to prepare as a future disciplemaker is to grow as a disciple yourself. As you experience the group and engage with the three discipleship tools for twelve weeks, you will not only become familiar with the model – you will also grow as a disciple.
Development Step: Participate in a discipleship group for twelve weeks. Utilize the tools in your daily time with the Lord, and come to weekly meetings ready to engage.
-
If you’re going to help us perpetuate this vision, it’s important you have time to ask questions, debrief what you’re learning, and wrestle with the finer details of our vision, strategy, and model. Throughout our ignition group, we will read The Master Plan of Evangelism and have 3 huddles where we process our readings, as well as dig into the details of discipleship groups.
Development Step: Read The Master Plan of Evangelism and attend all three huddles.
-
A key element of an ignition group is getting opportunities to practice facilitating and receiving feedback.
Development Step: Prepare for and facilitate the weekly meeting. Receive feedback from your trainer.
